Over the years we have gradually understood that creating a platform for children to reach out and be involved in the community is a vital key to their own personal restoration. It is actually often more impactful than the scope of planned programs, group workshops or even counseling.
With this unfolding perspective, we have been trying to facilitate service outreach opportunities that enable all of our HOJ kids to share something measurable and meaningful within their world.
Kids Feeding Kids
Our HOJ youth are helping with Revival For Christ Canitoan Community Fellowship outreaches into the local area with a regular feeding ministry each Saturday morning.
Every quarter all of our kids and staff join together for a service focused family outreach as part of our goals to maintain an outward orientation and perspective.
Kids Loving Kids
Our HOJ family outreach this month was to another children's center outside of the city for friendship, fellowship, and practical serving. The children prepared songs, dances and a puppet show to share with the kids and greatly enjoyed the opportunity to come alongside children just like themselves.
Somehow, as we each step out beyond our limitations or excuses and begin to engage with others, our hearts discover a glimpse of the reality that loving our neighbour is profoundly connected with loving ourselves - one is really not possible without the other!
These practical lessons in love help us to see with open, focused eyes in order to respond with activated hearts. Our children are recognizing that small things can really make a significant difference.
Our core values for Lifenet's ministry are: 'REACH, RESTORE, RESOURCE.' but these three words are more than just a catchy alliterative tagline. It has actually become our very simple recipe for life application and wholehearted living!
