Lost and Found

The Search Is Over

After 5 years of writing letters, phone calls, and requests for help we have finally found 1 boy's family!

It is very difficult to try to locate lost children's relatives if they have been separated from their families while still very young as they have limited recollection of their parent's names, their age or information about where they are actually from. These children are often unregistered and therefore have no legal identity, birth certificate or birthday (although we allocate these children a special day to celebrate while we are working on locating and establishing their identity!)

We are required to do everything possible to find missing families by publishing in newspapers, on the radio and TV stations. This can be an expensive and arduous process and most of our attempts have come up with very little information or leads.

After exhausting all possible avenues which have led to dead ends we have earnestly been praying for miracle breakthroughs as two boys, in particular, will not be able to graduate from elementary school next year without a birth certificate and correct parental information.

Amazingly, one boy's family has been found thanks to the help of a Pastor who visited House of Joshua with a team of volunteers last summer. He was personally familiar with the remote location and tribal community where the child was believed to come from and helped us find his brothers and cousins. His mother was also found in another location and he has since been able to talk on the phone to family members after such a long time of separation.

PLEASE PRAY for another miracle connection to the missing links for our 2nd boy so that he can finally know who he is and have the opportunity to finish his education.

Values Shape Our Perspectives
House of Joshua's values and character program aims to help our children form and apply values in a family environment. We focus on learning 2 values per month which are taught, modeled and practiced through games, group work, and devotions.
For the past few weeks, we have been trying to help our kids learn how to take care of themselves and their possessions properly.

With many of our kids coming from deprived and neglected backgrounds, it can be a challenge to instill self-value and care through personal hygiene awareness as well as encourage them to look after their clothes, toiletries, school bags, and toys. For the past 3 weeks, we have been helping them to improve and maintain their tidiness and organization!

Alternative Learning System Exam

Thank you for your prayers for our students who have been studying to take their ALS exam. After so many cancellations, date changes, and format changes, our kids were finally able to take the long-awaited final exam yesterday in 5 subjects, which started at 7am until 1pm. We will have to wait for a couple of months for the final result but hope that they will be able to progress forward into high school next year.
