The Mustard Seed project began 8 years ago as a small seed dream which germinated and flourished here in Cagayan de Oro city last month in the form of a 2-week theatre arts summer school.
Charley and John, professional performance actors from Rise Theatre Company in the UK, flew across the continents to help facilitate performing arts workshops and training for 58 kids and youth aged 7 - 20 years who joined the project, hosted at House of Joshua.
The project program provided daily theatre and creative arts training workshops and opportunities in acting, physical theatre, dance, music, drama, storytelling, songwriting, and art enabling the children to explore artistic expression and discover new skills.
The mustard seed journey together not only unlocked undiscovered talents but also watered each child's seed dreams for the future. It was such a delight to watch each little seed take root and grow!
Certificates were awarded to all participants who completed the two-week summer program as a reminder of their individual and group achievements and a memento of their Mustard Seed Project experience.
We are incredibly grateful to Rise Theatre Company for their immeasurable investment in our local children and energetic contributions and commitment to encourage and nurture their growth.
Our humble thanks to friends and supporters who contributed to help us achieve our goal of enabling our children to perform on a public stage, which was a brand new experience for most and the highlight of all their efforts and innovative learning. MARAMING SALAMAT!

The Mustard Seed Project facilitated a unique opportunity for the kids to learn, improve their confidence and work together to devise and choreograph original performance pieces. The performance groups used their own stories and personal experiences to create and rehearse their acts which were included in the final culminating show held at SM City mall to share their talents and creativity with the public.
The final show was a colourful celebration of life, joy and meaningful presentations which combined inspiring and moving stories, comical sketches, dances and songs within the parable of the mustard seed, showcasing their growth in confidence and artistry performance.
